MISSOURI PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM UPDATE AS OF 4/11/2023

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), Office of Childhood is excited to announce additional details for the new Missouri Professional Development (MOPD) system. The MOPD system will replace the OPEN Initiative Toolbox and the Missouri Workshop Calendar in June 2023.

MISSOURI WORKSHOP CALENDAR

  • Missouri Workshop Calendar will start phasing out in May 2023, however in-person and online in real time trainings can still be found on the Missouri Workshop Calendar until the new system is active.
  • All applications for training approval, including conferences and conference sessions, must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on May 5, 2023 to allow for review before May 12th.
  • Trainers can continue to deliver in-person and virtual trainings throughout May, however the ability to upload attendance records will close at 5:00 p.m. May 12, 2023 to allow time for the new MOPD system to merge data from OPEN Initiative’s Toolbox and the Missouri Workshop Calendar.
  • The public will be able to view training information on the Missouri Workshop Calendar but will not be able to use the sign up function for live sessions. Participants will need to register for the trainings according to instructions found in the scheduled session.
  • Training attendance entry will not be available after 5:00 p.m. on May 12. Attendance after that time will need to be entered into the new system once it is active. There will be a delay in seeing attendance for these courses.

OPEN INITIATIVE TOOLBOX

  • Users who need to obtain an OPEN Initiative Toolbox account will need to do so by 5:00 p.m. May 5th.
  • Individuals who need to obtain a MOPD ID number will need to do so by 5:00 p.m. May 5th.
  • The ability to access Toolbox reports will end on 5:00 p.m. May 5th. Programs are encouraged to download or print a copy for your records in case it is needed for compliance, relief funds applications, etc. before the new MOPD system is available.

ONLINE ON-DEMAND COURSES

  • Option A- courses may be accessed through each training organization’s website linked on the Missouri Workshop Calendar until the new MOPD system goes live.
  • Option B- The ability for uploaded certificates to receive credit will be shut down on the Missouri Workshop Calendar at 5:00 p.m. on May 5th. This will allow time for uploaded certificates to be reviewed and attendance documented before the attendance feature closes on May 12th.

MORE INFORMATION

  • Existing data will be merged into the new MOPD system from previous trainings.
  • Each user will have to login to find their information and create an account in the new MOPD system. This will assist with having accurate records for meeting DESE requirements. Your MOPD ID will remain the same.
  • Instructional materials including webinars, video clips, and handouts to explain how to use the new system are coming mid-May 2023.

More information will be shared in the coming weeks by email and on the new landing page for the MOPD system: https://earlyconnections.mo.gov/MOPD. Stay informed by making sure you are on the DESE Early Connections mailing list.

The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50 United States. It teaches child care providers and others to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course covers the Four Steps of Pediatric First Aid and modules in Pediatric First Aid, Child/Infant/adult CPR AED and optional modules covering Asthma Care Training. The modular classroom-based course is designed to be flexible and allow Instructors to teach either Pediatric First Aid, CPR AED or both.  Students may also wish to consider the combination or blended class:  AHA Online course plus the Classroom Skills & Practice course.
