BLS CoursesBLS Provider: Instructor-Led Training (Replaces BLS for Healthcare Providers) Note: This is an "All classroom course". Does not require/include online course completion.
The BLS Course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. The BLS (Instructor Led) Course is approximately 4 1/2 hours long including all required lessons, if taught using the recommended Instructor-to-student ratio of 1 Instructor to 6 students. In the Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam.

BLS Provider Renewal: Instructor-Led Training (Replaces BLS for Healthcare Providers Renewal) Note: This is an "All classroom course". Does not include online course completion. This course requires completion of the BLS course previously.
The AHA has added a BLS Renewal Course option for BLS providers to complete BLS training and receive a BLS Provider course completion card. The BLS Renewal Course is a video-based, ILT course that features accelerated content. It is designed specifically for providers with a BLS Provider course completion card and allows for time efficiency while teaching both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills in both in-facility and pre-hospital settings.BLS Skills Only class if for persons that have completed the American Heart Association (AHA) coursee "HeartCode BLS" This course is intended for providers who have successfully completed the online portion of BLS training (HeartCode BLS I). Direct assessment of a student’s performance of BLS skills. The BLS Skills Class is approximately 2 hours. Note: Students must have completed AHA online class prior to practice and skills testing. Cost of the AHA online course does NOT include the cost of this skills class!
BLS Skills "Accelerated"
BLS Skills "accelerated" class is for persons that have completed the American Heart Association (AHA) course "HeartCode BLS online" and is only intended for providers who are experienced in the skills of basic life support, are renewing their AHA BLS course completion card, and have successfully completed the online portion of AHA BLS HeartCode online course. Use of a feedback device or manikin is required for the accelerated HeartCode BLS Competency Course to ensure high-quality CPR with the direct assessment of a student’s performance of skills. The Accelerated BLS Skills Class is approximately 1 hour. Note: Students must have completed AHA online BLS class (HearCode BLS I) prior to practice and skills testing. Cost of the AHA BLS online course does NOT include the cost of this skills class!
Family & Friends CPR is a classroom-based course that can be taught by an AHA Instructor or led by a
facilitator (a community member, family member, or friend) who wishes to share the lifesaving skills of
CPR with others. This course is video-led and includes skills practice throughout the course. Skills are
taught by using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows participants to
practice on a CPR training manikin while skills are demonstrated in the course video.
Course topics can be presented together or taught separately as stand-alone modules.

This course does not provide a course completion card; however, students receive a tear-out participation card in
their student manual or can download a certificate of participation.
Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory (for example, OSHA), or other requirements. These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. For many Heartsaver courses, students receive a course completion card that is valid for 2 years. Fitness Instructors, Teachers, Social Workers, etc. Heartsaver classroom courses are video based, are instructor led, and feature group interaction and hands-on coaching and feedback from an American Heart Association Instructor. Skills are taught with the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique that allows students to practice skills as the video guides them. Classroom courses may also be conducted on-site at a company’s location.
Heartsaver® CPR AEDThis course will teach you to recognize cardiac arrest, get emergency care on the way quickly, and help a person until more advanced care arrives to take over. The course also covers adult choking and naloxone. 100% classroom training means students are with an AHA Instructor for their entire learning experience. Heartsaver® CPR AED is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR & AED use and how to relieve choking. Optional Modules: Child CPR and AED use and infant CPR may be added. This course teaches skills with the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. Note: Does not require online course completion.

Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED
This course is designed to meet OSHA requirements and covers first aid basics and CPR and AED skills for adults, children, and infants. 100% classroom training means students are with an AHA Instructor for their entire learning experience. Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency until emergency medical services arrives. Skills covered in this course include first aid; choking relief in adults and CPR/AED. Optional Modules: CPR/AED for Children and Infants may be added. This course teaches skills with the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.
The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course (includes Adult, Child & Infant CPR-AED) is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50 United States (Missouri MOPID). It teaches child care providers and others to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course covers the Four Steps of Pediatric First Aid and modules in Pediatric First Aid, Child/Infant CPR AED and optional modules covering Adult CPR AED, and Asthma Care Training. The modular classroom-based course is designed to be flexible and allow Instructors to teach either Pediatric First Aid, CPR AED or both. Students may also wish to consider the combination or blended class: AHA Online course plus the Classroom Skills & Practice course. Students that do not have a MOPD-ID number may attend this class.

Heartsaver® First Aid is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Students learn duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers; first aid actions for medical emergencies, including severe choking, heart attack, and stroke; and skills for handling injury and environmental emergencies, including external bleeding, broken bones and sprains, and bites and stings. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.

Heartsaver blended "Skills Only" training offers flexibility for employers, students, and Instructors. The eLearning (online) portion of the course is designed to teach students the cognitive information needed for first aid and/or CPR and AED training. Upon completion of the online portion, students must complete hands-on session with an AHA BLS or Heartsaver Instructor focused on meaningful skills coaching, practice, and testing. Note: If you purchase the online course directly from the AHA the Skills Course cost is not included. An additional fee is required for the skills class only.

The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, adult CPR with
breaths, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR, and mild and severe airway block
for adults, children, and infants. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s
research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on
CPR practice time possible.
Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a CPR course completion card
to meet a job requirement. This course is ideal for community groups, new parents, grandparents,
babysitters, and others interested in learning how to save a life.
